How AI-Built Software Deploys in Days, Not Months

Holixora2026-08-024 min read

The standard story about custom software goes like this: scoping takes a month, design takes a month, development takes three to six months, testing takes another month, and then you launch and discover all the things that were not in the spec.

We do not build that way. In the span of a few days, we shipped six complete business systems: a POS platform, a hotel management system, an HR system, an accounting module, a credit management system, and an operations hub. All of them with backends, frontends, authentication, and hundreds of automated tests.

This is not a brag. It is a proof of concept with a business implication: if software can be built this fast, then the economics of custom software change entirely.

Why traditional software takes so long

Most of the time in traditional development is not spent writing code. It is spent in coordination: requirements documents, design reviews, sprint planning, status meetings, integration testing across teams.

When a business wants a custom POS system, they hire an agency, wait for a proposal, approve a budget, wait for a team to be assembled, wait for the first sprint to complete, review a prototype that looks nothing like what they imagined, give feedback, wait for revisions, and repeat for six months.

The code itself might represent thirty percent of that timeline. The rest is process and communication overhead.

What AI changes about this

AI-assisted development compresses the time between idea and running code. Not by removing judgment or cutting corners, but by accelerating the translation of requirements into implementation.

When we build a system at Holixora, we start with the business logic: what does this system need to do, for whom, and under what constraints. Then we move directly to code, testing, and refinement. The translation layer that used to take weeks collapses.

The work that remains, the parts that still require human judgment, is deciding what to build and verifying that what was built is correct. Those are the steps we focus on. The mechanical work of scaffolding, boilerplate, and repetitive patterns happens fast.

What this means for Indonesian businesses

The software gap in Indonesia is real. Plenty of businesses are running on spreadsheets or on systems that were bought five years ago and never updated. The reason is not that owners do not want better tools. It is that custom software has been priced and timed for large companies.

When a system can be built in days rather than months, the calculus changes. A klinik with 10 staff does not need to spend twelve months and Rp 200 million on a custom patient management system. A boutique hotel does not need to choose between an expensive enterprise PMS and a spreadsheet. A trading company does not need to wait six months to have an inventory system that actually fits how they work.

Speed of development is how we make good software accessible to businesses that have been priced out of the market.

Quality is not optional

Fast does not mean fragile. Every system we ship at Holixora goes through automated testing before we call it done. Mercora POS has 40 end-to-end tests. The HRD system has 173. The hotel management system has 153. Across all six products, we have over 550 tests running, all passing.

Speed and quality are not opposites. AI-assisted development is faster partly because it catches common errors before they become bugs, and because test coverage is easier to achieve when writing tests is not the bottleneck.

The shift in what we can offer

For a client, the practical implication is this: if you come to us with a business problem and a clear sense of what you need, we can have something running for you to test within days. Not a mockup, not a wireframe, but a working system.

The negotiation changes. Instead of committing to a six-month project on the basis of a document, you commit to a week of building and see what you have. From there you decide whether to continue, refine, or change direction.

This is how we think software for Indonesian SMBs should work: fast enough to see real value before you have spent your entire budget, and good enough to keep using when the engagement is done.
