Hotel Management Without the Enterprise Price Tag: Inside Hanoman HMS

Wira Dharma2026-06-084 min read

The hotel software market in Indonesia splits neatly into two groups: simple guesthouse apps that handle bookings and nothing else, and enterprise property management systems priced for hotel chains with dedicated IT staff. Independent hotels and resorts, the category that dominates the Indonesian hospitality landscape, are stuck choosing between software that is too simple and software that is too expensive.

Hanoman HMS is built for that gap.

What Hanoman Covers

Hanoman is a full hotel management system, built to handle the operational reality of an independent hotel or resort. Not a booking widget. Not a glorified calendar. A real HMS.

Reservations: The core of any hotel operation. Hanoman handles the full reservation lifecycle from creation to check-out. Walk-in reservations, advance bookings, group bookings, and modifications are all supported. The reservation detail view shows room assignment, guest contact, package inclusions, and payment status in a single screen.

Room Management: Room classes, room rates by season and occupancy type, daily rate overrides, and surcharges. The system supports multiple room categories with different base rates, and rate rules that apply automatically based on arrival date, length of stay, or guest type.

Contacts: A shared contact database for guests and corporate accounts. Contact history links reservations to the guest record automatically. Corporate clients get their own profiles with negotiated rates and billing preferences.

Outlet Management: Food and beverage operations matter for most Indonesian hotels. The outlet module handles menu items by category, outlet locations, operational shifts, and cashmaster reconciliation. Sales from the outlet flow into the reservation folio if the guest is charging to room.

Packages: Bundle room rates with F&B credits, spa treatments, airport transfers, or any other inclusions. Packages are defined once and attached to reservations. The system tracks what has been consumed and what remains.

Masterdata: The configuration layer that holds the operational rules. Countries, payment systems, exchange rates for international guests, daily rate schedules. Everything the system needs to handle a diverse guest mix.

The Architecture Underneath

Hanoman follows the same technical foundation as every Holixora product. FastAPI backend with async SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL database, Alembic migrations, Holixora Core for authentication and RBAC.

The frontend is a Next.js App Router application with 35 routes covering every operational area. The design system is consistent across the Holixora product family, which matters when an operator is running Hanoman for hospitality, Mercora for their resort gift shop, and the Accounting module for the books.

Role-based access control in Hanoman covers four levels: Administrator, Manager, Front Desk, and Viewer. Front desk staff see reservations and check-in flows. Managers see reporting and configuration. Administrators manage users and system settings.

The data model is designed for audit. Every change to a reservation, rate, or guest record is traceable. For a hotel operator dealing with disputes, chargebacks, or staff accountability issues, this matters more than most software vendors acknowledge.

Why Independent Hotels Need This More Than Chains

Large hotel chains have the budget for Oracle Hospitality or Amadeus. They also have IT teams to configure and maintain those systems, and corporate staff to train employees on them.

An independent hotel with 20 to 80 rooms does not have any of that. The owner is the IT team. Training budget is minimal. Software needs to work correctly from day one and be maintainable by staff with no technical background.

Hanoman is built with that constraint in mind. The interface uses clear language, not hospitality software jargon. The workflows match how Indonesian hotel staff actually work, not how a software company in Europe imagines hotel operations run.

And because it shares infrastructure with the rest of the Holixora stack, an operator who adds Hanoman is not adding a separate vendor relationship, a separate login, and a separate support process. It is one system.

Current Status and What Is Next

Hanoman HMS is deployed and functional at MVP level. All core operational modules are built and tested. The next development phase focuses on tighter integration with the Accounting module for automatic folio-to-ledger posting, and with the Credit System for corporate account billing on net terms.

After that: a reporting layer that gives owners the business intelligence view, occupancy by period, revenue per available room, channel mix, and package performance, without requiring them to export data into Excel.

The goal is an independent hotel that operates like a chain without the overhead of being one.
